Darren Clarke will take all measures to show up for the Irish Open
Golfing Pro Darren Christopher Clarke, who has 22 professional wins to his name, is getting ready for the Irish Open. The Irish Open commences from the 28th of June 2012.
In his interview, the 43-year-old Irishman said that he is busy getting ready for the tournament. He said, “I am doing everything I can to be ready for the Irish Open here”.
Darren Clarke lately had a groin injury. He took some time off to take rest and to recover from it. Clarke did not even participate in the US Open, as he wanted to be in perfect form before the Irish Open.
Clarke is sure that his groin would heel before the tournament. Clarke added that he would be willing to take drastic measures just to play the high-profile event, the Irish Open.
He said, “I’ve still got four weeks so hopefully the groin will have cleared up by then anyway but I would even play in a Zimmer frame if it was necessary, it’s that important to me”.
Clarke has made it clear that he is going to play in the Irish Open even if he is on his death bed. The reason is that he has played an important role in making the Irish Open a successful event.
It was because of his undulating efforts that the Irish Open travelled to the north.
This was a big achievement for the tournament itself. On this topic, Clarke had to say, “This is a major stepping stone towards getting the Open back to Royal Portush”.
“I’ve been playing around here since I was 11 years old when my dad used to bring me up in the evenings to play when the green fees were cheaper,” he said.
Darren Clarke said that people do not come here very often and it is hard to get them to play golf here but he is sure that the Irish Open is going to be a huge success this year.
He also added that R&A (The Royal and Ancient Golf Club) are very aware and highly experienced as to how the tournament is run.
