Darren Fletcher owes Scotland success to fans
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has confessed that Scottish national side owes a good performance against Spain to its fans. Fletcher made such a statement owing to the side loosing at Prague one week ago.
There were more than 6000 travelling Scotland fans who went to watch their side facing Czech Republic in prague but to their dismay, Scotland succumbed to a 1-0 defeat. It was an unusual formation played by the manager Craig Levein as the manager played
a 4-6-0 formation, with no formal striker. It was a header by Roman Hubnik that stood in between Scotland and Czech, with manager Craig Levein’s formation doing everything but troubling the Czech’s defence.
There is virtually no chance of Scotland pulling one over the World Champions Spain in their clash tonight, but Darren Fletcher expects his side to show 100% commitment towards the fixture. Also, with the clash being in Hampden, which is the home stadium
of Scotland, the 50,000 plus fans would be looking for their side to be on their best and do something extraordinary.
"It's important we go out and put in a good performance for the fans. Win, lose or draw, if they can see 100 per cent and see the Scotland team give their all, I think that's important. We have to forget what happened in the Czech Republic and use all of
our energy and commitment in the Spain game," claimed the Scottish Captain. The midfielder added that he expects the home crowd to back them throughout the match and hailed the quality of his supporters when they came to Prague.
The skipper expected his side to give a hundred percent effort against the World Champions and give something for the crowd to cheer. Fletcher is therefore steadfast that Scotland would have to do something to make the crowd proud of them and be with them
when they attack as a team.
"We're not going to go toe-to-toe with Spain. We know they will dominate possession and maybe outplay us but we have to look for opportunities to get forward. "If we want a positive result then it's about being brave. No-one expects us to pass Spain off
the pitch but when the chance comes to get at them we have to be brave enough to throw numbers forward," claimed the Scotland skipper.
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has transformed into one of the most important player for both club and country. The player has made over 50 appearances for the National side and was made the captain. For his club, Fletcher has transformed into
an exciting central/holding midfielder and has amazing ball control and vision. It was Fletcher’s authority in the midfield which led to Manchester United finally defeating AC Milan in the UEFA Champions league last season. His visionary pass to team mate
Wayne Rooney left the Milan defence dumbfounded and has made over 80 apperances in the past three years for his club. Fletcher is now a starting XI player and also made the PFA Team of the year last season owing to his outstanding contributions.
Scotland stand a minor chance of defeating the World Champions, as every player wearing the Spanish jersey is a superstar. The side are the joint European and World Champions and are on the top of their game. To defeat such a heavy side, Scotland would have
to do something out of the ordinary.
