Darren Isaac, Tai An Khang emerge as Boys’ doubles champions – Selangor Open 2012
The Malaysian lads Darren Isaac and Tai An Khang emerged as champions in Boy’s doubles final of the Selangor Open in Bukit Kiara yesterday.
The young duo excelled the opposing couple Calvin Ong Jia Hong- Tan Wee Gieen in the final with a decisive 2-1 lead.
The champions Darren Isaac and Tai An Khang earned their spot in the final by edging the duo of Tew Gee Chong and Yeoh Choong Yee in the semi-final while the pair Calvin Ong-Tan Wee reserved their rights to be the second finalists by nailing Chua Khek Wei
and Ong Yew Sin in second semi-final of the event.
There was lot of drama in the final contest as in just three sets and 33 minutes the battle for the crown was over.
The young Malaysian pair Calvin Ong-Tan Wee clinched the first match point by winning the opening set against their rivals Darren Isaac-Tai An Khang with a speedy 21-14 score on the board.
The pair Darren Isaac-Tai An Khang looked out of touch as they could not respond to this swift attack and lost their first game of the match.
However, the young duo Darren Isaac-Tai An Khang found their lost rhythm and they wrapped up the second game even quicker than the first set. Their competitors could not control the pace of the rallies and kept trailing behind on the scoreboard.
The backlash from Darren Isaac-Tai An Khang was unbeatable and the opponent pair Calvin Ong-Tan Wee proved as sitting ducks and were hunt down by the champs with a notable margin of 21-16.
The last set, after both teams standing at same level with 1-1 match score, turned out last nail in the coffin as the Malaysian lads Darren Isaac-Tai An Khang buried their rivals Calvin Ong-Tan Wee.
The final set was completely dominated by the duo Darren Isaac-Tai An Khang as they did not give their challengers even a chance to blink their eyes by registering a brisk 21-12 victory.
That ended the marathon for crown and the duo Darren Isaac-Tai An Khang came out as new boy’s doubles champions in the Selangor Open.
