Darren Lehman asks Deccan Chargers to improve their fielding ahead of their next match
Deccan Chargers’ coach, Darren Lehman, stressed that his side needs to work on their fielding if they want to break their losing streak in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Deccan, under the leadership of Kumar Sangakkara, is languishing at the ninth position in the points table with three wins out of their ten matches played so far.
"We have to push the performance to win matches and execute plans. We need to win every match hereafter," Lehman told.
Deccan took a sluggish start in the ongoing tournament. They faced two consecutive defeats in the first two matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders.
However, they won the third match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 33 runs. The fourth match again saw them being defeated by Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.
The Chargers then faced three defeats in a row against Chennai Super Kings, KKR and DC.
Ahead of Deccan’s next match against the debutant, Pune Warriors, Lehman said that his team lost most of the matches because they have been poor in picking catches. For the next game, he hoped that his team will not repeat their previous mistakes.
The Coach, while talking about team’s last defeat said that the poor fielding, especially the catches of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ankit-Sharma-c1053 and Dwarka Ravi Teja, made the situation worse for Deccan.
"I don't think it is anything to do with luck. We had two opportunities to get Viru. Had we held those catches, we would have won. It is getting to a point that is costing us games," said the coach.
The skipper, Sangakkara also accepted that Sehwag’s two dropped catches provided him chances which costed Deccan in the end.
Deccan will now face Pune in the 53rd match of the tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Pune have played ten matches and have won only three. They are at the 8th place on the points table with six points.
