Darren Lehmann believes that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Amit-Mishra-c44030 can play in the same side
Deccan Chargers’ coach, Darren Lehmann, believes that his team’s Amit Mishra and Pune Warriors’ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-Sharma-c83352 are completely different types of leg-spinners and can play in the same side.
While Mishra is Deccan’s leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets in the season, Sharma, with his 16 dismissals in the ongoing league, is the best bowler in the Pune camp.
In the crucial contest between Deccan Chargers and Pune Warriors http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Monday, May 16, 2011, both bowlers took two wickets each for their respective side.
Having been asked to bat first, the Warriors piled up a modest total of 136 in the given 20 overs. Mishra picked up the wickets of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mithun-Manhas-c76414 on two successive balls which eventually restricted Warriors to a meagre score.
In the second innings, even though the Challengers overwhelmed the target with four balls remaining, Rahul Sharma did not allow them to achieve that with ease. Sharma dismissed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunny-Sohal-c2609 and the Deccan skipper, Kumar Sangakkara.
Extremely impressed by both leg-spinners, Lehmann, who has also served http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 as a left-arm slow bowler, described that Mishra is more of an attacking bowler while Sharma relies on his line and length.
"I think Mishra is the best leg spinner in the country. He has a real strong mentality. We encourage him to go for wickets. We don`t want him to bowl just tight, Rahul Sharma is more of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anil-Kumble-c44737 type," said Lehmann
Considering Sharma and Mishra as exceptional competitors, Lehmann stated that even though both of them are leg-spinners, they have entirely different bowling styles compared to each other.
"Mishra turns the balls both ways and has got variations. Rahul is not a big turner of the ball but has control and bounce. They both can play in the same team, no doubt about that and they both are exceptional bowlers. We had Rahul last year for Deccan," said the former Australian batsman.
On his team’s convincing performance against PWI, the coach shared that he is extremely happy to see his side wining two games on the trot. However, he admitted that it came a bit late as the Chargers are out of the play-off race.
