Coach of Deccan Chargers and former Australian cricketer, Darren Lehmann is devastated with the fielding performance of his team in the on-going fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Deccan is currently slotted at the bottom of the points table with merely five points after 10 matches. Apart from the Chargers, all the other teams are still in the running to qualify for the play-off stage of the tournament.
The Chargers have the services of a number of quality cricketers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Christian-c1308. However, the senior players have failed to deliver the goods and only White has made an impression
in the tournament through some consistent runs.
Deccan’s fielding has been pathetic in the current season as it has leaked so many runs and has dropped a number of catches at crucial junctures of the game.
Defending Champions of the tournament, Chennai Super Kings, defeated the Chargers on Friday after a close match. Deccan once again failed to raise its level of fielding, which allowed Chennai to post a competitive total on the board. The Super Kings have
an upper hand over Deccan as they outclassed them in their previous encounter as well.
Lehmann expressed that his team is working hard but is not able to deliver the goods in the field.
"We seem to be losing to Chennai all the time. We are really working hard on the track and we are not just very good in the field at the moment. For us, it is a case of keep working hard," he said.
The former Australian middle-order batsman is working hard with his team but feels that the inexperience of the boys is showing in the tournament.
Lehmann expressed, "It is a young squad and sometimes it is disappointing that some of the players are making mistakes. We have just got to get better. So many times I had words with players. I have talked about what they need to do on the field. We are
trying to get the best from the players.”
Deccan’s next fixture is scheduled for May 6th, 2012, against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
