Australia’s coach, Darren Lehmann is satisfied with the performance of his bowlers in the opening Test of the five-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 at Trent Bridge but
the former cricketer wants a better showing from his batsmen in the second encounter.
The Baggy Greens fought well in the first match of the series but lost by 14 runs in the end. Australia’s specialist batsmen struggled to deliver the goods on a batting friendly pitch, although their lower order batsmen showed
a lot of resilience.
The Aussies were in deep trouble in the first innings, having lose nine wickets for merely 117 runs on the board, before Ashton Agar, the debutant played the innings of his life and helped his team take a first-innings lead.
After a solid start in the second innings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 and company struggled once again, leaving the lower order batsmen under immense pressure.
The sporting analysts were rating England as clear favourites before the start of the battle but Lehmann thinks that his side put up a brilliant fight in the first match and may surprise in the remainder of the series. The former
middle-order is happy with the performance of his bowlers, who picked up 20 wickets in the match but wants an improved showing with the bat.
"I think we've done enough to show this is going to be a really close series and we've just got to capture those key moments. We've certainly got to bat better as a top order. We're going to bowl very well and we know we can control
their batters. It's a matter of making more runs," the coach expressed.
Lehmann is especially not pleased with the performance of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan, who looked out of sorts in both the innings.
"He had a tough game," Lehmann added. "We've told Ed how we want him to play and how we want him to bat. That certainly hasn't changed from when he first came into the side, I would think.”
The second Test of the all-important battle commences from July 18 at the Lord’s, with the visitors looking to square the series.
