Darren Lehmann says Deccan Chargers keen to win more matches before home crowd in IPL
The Deccan Chargers's coach, Darren Lehmann, vowed that the team is keen to win more games before their home crowds in the upcoming fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Deccan Chargers, who finished last in the first IPL edition but won the second edition of Twenty20 league, is aiming to attract crowds to the stadiums by winning more matches on home grounds.
The former Australian batsman has realised the need of winning matches in front of home crowds, as his side had not won many games at home in previous editions of the league.
"With regard to the number of winning games before the home crowd, we will change that this year. We will play well here and try to win more games", Lehmann said.
Lehmann further explained that India’s victory in the World Cup has increased chances of a successful IPL edition this year.
Chirayu Amin, current IPL chief in place of Lalit Modi, has already claimed a bigger and better IPL and has promised to run it in a corruption-free manner.
Lehmann also admired Kumar Sangakkara, who will lead the Deccan Chargers this season, and regarded him as one of the best players in the world.
"As a leader Sangakkara did a great job for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 (in the recently concluded World cup) and we expect that experience comes in good for Deccan Chargers also", Deccan Chargers coach added.
Responding to a question about the toughest side in season four, Lehmann commented that the competition will be very hard, where every side is going to be tough.
However, the coach promised to demonstrate a fine performance in the tournament with both ball and bat.
