Darren Lockyer acnowledges his delight over exiting with a Gillette Four Nations' win

While talking to the reporters in the post-match press conference, on November 19, Darren Lockyer, Australian captain, acknowledged that he is happy to finish off his rugby league career with a 30-8 win over England in the Gillette Four Nations title decider.
While expressing his thoughts about his finish at a high note, Lockyer stated, "I have had a great time and been fortunate to play at this level for a long time. You can't go on forever and I think now is as good a time as any for me. It is time for me to
move on and allow the next crop to come through. For me personally, I am just thinking it is a good night. We have been together five weeks and it is nice to finish like that. Being a final of the Four Nations - that is where my thoughts were."
He further added that after the winning the game, it would feel great to head back home.
While recalling his earlier missed goal, the long-term Roos’ captain agreed that finishing off his last game by booting the last goal himself has sweetened the taste of victory for him.
Australia had established an early lead, where Sam Thaiday scored a try for them. However, this was answered back by Ryan Hall of England, through his penalty try towards the final minutes of the first-half which led to score-up break to 8-6.
During the second-half of the game, England drew level 8-8 with Kangaroos, but that remained for a very short spell of time because Roos had sprung back to their original daunting form.  Jharal Yow Yeh, Johnathan Thurston and Greg Inglis ran in tries for
their side and widened the score break up gap.
Thurston was brilliant in his on-field performance for which he won the man-of-the-match title. The player had booted a total of five tries for his side, which has a major role to play in Roos emphatic glory at the final berth of Four Nations.
The second-half of the game had Australia written all over it, because their defence line was too strong. The skipper explained the positives of the victory and said that the team’s strong defence is the reason behind their success.
