Darren McFadden will miss next game against San Diego Chargers
Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden has now sat out of two consecutive practices and will likely not be in the lineup when the Raiders take on the San Diego Chargers at home this Sunday, October 10.
McFadden is suffering from a hamstring injury, which the Raiders are insisting is not the same as the injury he suffered earlier in training camp. But head coach Tom Cable mentioned that he was very doubtful that McFadden will be able to play against the
Chargers.
To say that the Raiders depend on McFadden is a bit of an understatement, as the Raiders offence almost completely relies on what he can provide as an offensive threat.
McFadden is the heart and soul of the Raiders team, and the third-year man has got himself off to the most productive start in his career, as he is currently ranked third in the NFL in rushing yards just behind Houston's Arian Foster and Pittsburgh's Rashard
Mendenhall. On top of his 392 yards rushing, McFadden also has 16 receptions for 162 yards.
Michael Bush, who had been suffering from an injured thumb earlier in the season, is the man likely to replace McFadden, and although Bush is off to a slow start, head coach Cable has confidence that his backup running back can get the job done.
"If you look at when Mike's played, it's been the same things," he said. "He runs more physical in the box, maybe. You may not get as much play on the perimeter, but you'll get it running downhill at the defence. (McFadden) has been very productive, so we've
got to find a way to get that same production, but I think Michael's ready to take that load."
The Raiders are 1-3 so far this season and have been decent on offence. It's their defence which has been struggling, giving up 107 points in four games. They will have a tough test when they take on Philip Rivers and the high-powered San Diego Chargers
offence on Sunday.
