http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 captain, Darren Sammy confirmed on Tuesday that their injured big guns including, aggressive opener, Chris Gayle and spearhead pacer, Kemar Roach, are completely fit and will be up against Pakistan in the first quarter-final of the ongoing World Cup on Wednesday.
"I liked the way Chris was hitting balls in the nets," said the West Indies skipper, while talking to media reporters. "He is very committed to the West Indies cause. Come tomorrow, and I have no doubt both he and Kemar will play," he hoped.
The pair missed the last league game against co-hosts India on Sunday. Gayle was battling with abdominal strain, while Roach was down due to a viral fever and an upset stomach.
According to Sammy, both players were back in form, as they played today in the nets at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. Their return would be a huge boost for the Caribbean side that is struggling against big teams.
Pace bowler, Ravi Rampaul replaced Roach in Sunday’s game and made a sensational appearance picking up five wickets. However, Sammy did not confirm if the five-wicket taker will participate in tomorrow’s game if a completely fit Roach returns to the side.
"We will assess the conditions and discuss it amongst ourselves before finalizing the team," said Sammy when asked about Rampaul. "We will put out the best possible team which can deal with the conditions," he added further.
The Caribbean line-up caved in against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, losing both games after previously being in a dominant position. Sammy agreed that the top-order collapses has been a cause of concern in the past games against big teams. He insisted that they cannot afford any such fall downs in the quarter-final.
The all-rounder hoped they would put the past behind them and will bounce back with full strength against the Cornered Tigers, who topped Group A after defeating defending champions, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in their last league game - breaking their unbeaten 34-match World Cup streak.
Sammy ensured the fans of both countries that Wednesday’s game would an exciting contest.
