Darren Sammy confident his team can bounce back in 2nd T20 – Cricket News Update
Following their 8-wicket defeat in the previous match, West Indies captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, is convinced that his team can return with a vengeance and level the 2-match T20 series, the last game of which will be played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown,
Barbados on March 30.
“Australia bounced back and leveled the series and now it's our turn to do that," Sammy said after the team’s arrival in Barbados.
“The confidence in the team is quite high so now we have to come back and do some more things right and hopefully we will be victorious and level the series,” he added.
The Windies, who have not won an ODI series against Australia since 1995, lost the chance to end the 17-year drought in the 5-match series which ended on a tie. The Aussies got off to a good start, claiming a 64-run win against the hosts, but the Windies
made a strong comeback, claiming a 5-wicket victory in the 2nd ODI.
The 3rd match ended in a nail-biting tie – a close call for the visitors, who had gone into the series in top-form after winning the Commonwealth Bank series. The host team seemed to have the series wrapped up as they secured a 42-run win in the
4th match. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 managed to earn some saving grace as they bounced back and won the series finale by 30 runs, ending on a 2-2 (5) tie.
The T20 series kicked off at the Beausejour Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia on March 27, with both teams eager to gain an upper-hand. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 won the toss and chose to bat, but were unable to post much of a total, finding themselves at 150 by the end
of 20 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 were particularly in form, claiming 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
The visitors appeared to have adjusted to the conditions, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 was particularly impressive, taking a scalp at the expense of only 16 runs in 4 overs, and following that up with top-scoring for his side with 64 off 43 deliveries. The Windies bowlers
were powerless to prevent their opponents as George Bailey’s men cruised to an 8-wicket victory.
With the tourists taking a 1-0 lead, the Windies have a last chance to prove themselves before they move on to the Test leg of the tour, due to begin on April 7 at the same venue.
