A visibly content Darren Sammy said that he had thought of salvaging a draw in the last moments of the match.
"I had all sorts of feelings coming into my mind. At one time, the feeling of a tied Test too came to my mind,” said the West Indian all-rounder while talking to the media reporters at the post-match press conference. “I was speaking to Kirk (Edwards) at
covers and he said 'we can draw, we won't lose'. To lose the game after scoring 590 would have been heart breaking for us," he added further.
The visiting skipper said that though he was happy with the result but he would have been more happy had they sealed the deal in their way.
“We would have loved to win against a higher rung team. It would have given us some points. Our goal is to make it to the top five in Test cricket," Sammy said.
West Indies, in their first innings, outclassed the Indian attack and piled up a mammoth 590 runs total before bundling India out for 482 in their first innings. With a first innings lead of 108 runs, the Caribbean batsmen failed to intimidate the Indian
bowlers in their second innings as the whole team of West Indies was rolled over for 134 in 57.2 overs, setting a target of 243 to win for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and his men.
Half centuries from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 handed the hosts a chance to clean sweep the tourists in the Test series with a win at Wankhede Stadium but the depleted Caribbean squad did not let the Indians inflict a whitewash and managed a draw.
