Darren Sammy hoping for a result at Queen's Park Oval - Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, is hopeful that the second Test of the three match series against Australia, starting at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad today, April 15, 2012, will finish in a result.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of the match, Sammy said that a lot of first-class cricket has been played at the venue and traditionally the wicket here bears a result.
"A lot of first class cricket has been played here and so far [there have been results] so we expect this pitch to be one that will have a victory," Sammy said ahead of the match.
None of the Australian players in the current squad, except http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, have played a Test at Queen’s Park Oval, but the St Lucian all-rounder does not think it would give his side an edge over the tourists.
"I don't think it's an edge because at the end of the day http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 have got a few experienced players in their line up like we saw how [Mike] Hussey came in in the last Test and [did] what he did," said Sammy when questioned about
the home advantage.
Sammy urged his side to be at its best and not take the visitors lightly, adding that the mighty Aussies have fighting and are very good at adapting quickly to different conditions across the world.
When asked about the behaviour of the pitch at Queen’s Park Oval, the home skipper said that bowling straight and accurate would be the key here.
“We have Fidel and Roach bowling quick,” said Darren Sammy, himself a pace bowler, adding, “if they can be accurate like they were in Barbados and few decisions that were close turn up in our favour it could be a different story."
The Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad, has not been kind to the West Indies over the years, as they have won just three of the last 12 Tests played here.
Having won the opening Test at Barbados by three wickets, Australia lead the three Test series 1-0. The third and last Test will be played at Roseau from April 23.
