Darren Sammy, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 at St Vincent and wants his batsmen to raise their game.
Having lost the opening T20 at the very last ball of the match, the home team failed to make an impression in the second encounter as well and handed over a 0-2 series victory to Pakistan.
The Green Shirts won the toss and elected to bat first on a slow and low pitch. Thanks to brilliant cameos by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 135 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
The West Indian batsmen failed to cope with the quality of Pakistani spinners and fell short of the target by 11 runs.
While talking in the post-match presentation ceremony, the West Indies captain admitted that his top-order batsmen made the task almost impossible for the hitters like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379. The all-rounder understands that his batsmen need to
improve in order to survive at the international level.
Sammy expressed, "We could have restricted them, but they played well in the end. We lost a lot of wickets in our first six overs, and then it was a difficult task for Pollard and Bravo to come and score at 12-13 runs an over. We just didn't bat well enough
at the start. I think we as a batting team have to give ourselves a chance.”
The cricketer from St. Lucia admitted that the pitch was quite tough to bat on but feels that it is not an excuse for a professional cricketer.
“We have different types of players and I can't tell them how to go about batting, but when you have a difficult pitch, you have to give yourselves a chance and capitalise in the end," he added.
Prior to the T20 series, the home team lost the five-match One Day International battle by a margin of 1-3, which was quite a disappointing result for the cricket fans in the Caribbean who expect a lot more from their team.
