The West Indian skipper, Darren Sammy, has lauded the logistical and training facilities available at the International Cricket Council’s Global Cricket Academy in Dubai.
Sammy and company concluded their week-long training camp at Dubai Sports City yesterday, with a marvellous victory over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 to play a bilateral series.
The skipper seemed to be quite satisfied with what his team gained during their stay in the Global Cricket Academy, and termed the venue as a ‘centre of excellence for cricket’.
Talking to the media, Sammy said, “The sign here says 'a centre of excellence for cricket' and it is, indeed, that. The facilities are wonderful and I think every cricketer who gets an opportunity to use them would be very appreciative. You can get whatever
you want here, in the indoor facility (there are pitches for) spin, pace, and there's the bowling machines. It's a great way to prepare before a tour.”
Using the academy’s excellent indoor and outdoor playing facilities, the Caribbean played some practice matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 and Afghanistan teams in a bid to perk themselves up for the upcoming series.
Apart from Sammy, the team coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richard-Benjamin-Richardson-c84890, has also heaped praise on the GCA, hoping that his players’ stay in Dubai on their way to Bangladesh will help them out in the long run.
“Now, having come here, I'm really impressed with the quality of all the various equipment. The facilities are of a very high standard,” stated the coach.
The Windies, who are awash with form after beating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in a home T20I last week, will take on the Bengali Tigers in the one-off T20I on October 11, and play 3 ODIs and 2 Tests in the proceding days.
This series is being regarded as crucial for the future of the Tigers, who have not won any international competition since the dawn of the calendar year. The Caribbean will also strive hard to win the event, and regain their lost credibility in the comity
of cricket.
