Darren Sammy targets Kiwi clean sweep – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 is targeting a rare clean sweep as his side gears up to face bruised and battered New Zealand in the second and final Test of the two-match series, at Sabina Park, in Kingston, Jamaica, today, August 2, 2012.
"It's just half the job done in the series. We've got another test match and we are going to play to win," said Sammy while speaking to media persons on the eve of the second Test, at Kingston.
"It's a long while we haven't won two test matches in a row so we're looking forward to playing here," he added further.
The Windies go into today’s final Test at the back of an impressive nine-wicket win over the Kiwis at North Sound, Antigua. Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/N-Deonarine-c2051
scored hard-fought half centuries as the Windies put 522 runs on board in their first innings, in reply to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s 351.
Spin bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758 led the bowling arsenal claiming five-wicket hauls in New Zealand’s first and second innings, respectively. Though there came some tense moments in the Test match, but the hosts manage to come out
of those quite successfully.
It was not only in the opening Test at Antigua last week, the Windies have kept their cool all through the series, winning all but one encounter of the home series, comprising two T20 Internationals, five One Day Internationals and two Tests.
“We've responded quite well under pressure throughout this series and we're doing some good things,” said the St Lucia all-rounder.
“The work we've put in over the last year or two is finally coming together. It's something we just have to be consistent at and this game starting tomorrow, we should look to do the same," he added further.
What makes the next five days more significant for the home side is that a victory or draw at Sabina Park would hand the Windies their first Test series win over the Black Caps in 15 years.
