Darren Sammy warns Australia of tougher challenges in the coming Test series – Cricket News Update
Speaking at the back of unexpected, yet impressive performances by his side in both limited-over series, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, the West Indian skipper, warned the touring Australian side of more challenges to come, in regards to the impending 3-Test series between
the two sides, set to begin with the 1st Test on April 7, 2012, at Bridgetown, after a 2-day warm-up match.
"We are going to carry that same mentality in the Tests. That is what we have got to keep telling the boys, once we believe, we can achieve. We are going to play fearless cricket when we are at home,” said Sammy, who led his side to defy expectations by
wrapping up the 5-match ODI series 2-2 and then going on to level the 2-match T20 series 1-1.
The first ODI of the series took place on March 16, 2012, and resulted in an expected win for the Kangaroos, who beat the Caribbean side by a margin of 64 runs. However, the 2nd ODI, just 2 days after the 1st, saw the Caribbean Kings
strike back with a 5-wicket win, using the Duckworth-Lewis method.
With the 3rd ODI ending in a rare tie as neither side was able to score beyond 220, the 4th and 5th matches saw a win each for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, leveling the series 2-2.
“From the start of the series, we all know how the Australians play and we decided from the time we went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 we were going to play fearless cricket and that is the same thing we did in this competition. We are going to stand up to them if they stand
up to us…” Sammy had added further.
The two-match T20 series followed the ODI competition and after the Australians roped an 8-wicket win in the 1st clash. The Windies, in another resilient showing, defied all odds to beat the Aussies in the shorter format as well, dismissing them
14 runs short of the chase.
Taking confidence from such great performances by his boys, Sammy has warned the Australians of the fight they will face in the upcoming 5-day competition, which will see 3 Tests played between April 7 – 27, 2012, at Bridgetown, Port of Spain and Roseau
respectively.
