Dartnall's Roudoudou Ville ruled out for a year due to injury - Horse Racing Update
Trainer Victor Dartnall has revealed that the Byrne Group Plate joint favourite, Roudoudou Ville, will stay out of action for next 12 months due to an injury.
The seven-year-old was 10-1 joint-favourite for next month’s Byrne Group Plate. However, he is no more in the line-up as his exclusion from the big event was confirmed by the trainer on Thursday.
Victor Dartnall expressed severe disappointed over his trainee’s ouster from the festival.
He said:
"Unfortunately he's picked up an injury and he'll be off for 12 months. It's a great shame."
Breeded by J. Poumaillou, Winning Smile’s son out of Jadoudy Ville had been performing consistently well over the past few months. In November last year, he sealed a classy triumph in the Play Rainbow Riches @bluesq.com Handicap Chase at Sandown.
Perpetuating his good run, the rampant gelding displayed a reasonable show in the Spinal Research The Atlantic 4 Gold Cup at Cheltenham where he narrowly missed the runner-up position.
Roudoudou Ville ran superbly and chased the leaders early on. Despite making a huge blunder at the eighth fence, he managed to sustain his quick speed. Courtesy of his consistent run, Roudoudou Ville at one stage was in great position to take the victory.
He gave the leaders a real hard time at the final moment but the luck didn’t favour him. Despite all the hard work, he failed to overtake the leading duo of Quantitativeeasing and Medermit.
Falling just a neck distance adrift of Alan King’s Medermit, Victor Dartnall’s horse settled third on the chart.
After Roudoudou Ville’s exclusion from the event, Bet365 has offered David Pipe’s Salut Flo the highest odds of 8-1. The second highest starting price has been given to Great Endeavour who is among 79 entries for the Grade 3 Byrne Group Plate.
On the other hand, Hold On Julio has been rated as favourite for the Grade 3 JLT Specialty Handicap Chase. Alan King’s trainee is among 84 entered for the 3-mile contest.
With only a few days left in the Cheltenham Festival, the exciting has been going up with every passing moment. The contestants from all over the world are geared up and a thrilling clash in on the cards.
