Darts Wizard in lead of the line-up for the Suffolk 700 Maiden – Duplicated at Mildenhall on 17th April
Mildenhall will become home for the Suffolk 700 Maiden – Duplicated on Tuesday, 17th April over 700 metres flat. Contesting for the £100 prize money are Farran Bomber, Loughside Joe, Droopys Neale, Crossleigh Tinko, Darts Wizard and Bodell Bernina.
The most convincing entry on the line-up is Darts Wizard, Dods Delight’s three-year-old black son out of b***h, Coolcullen Rose. He has raced eleven times during the season and has been drilled twice. Only three of his races could be translated into victories.
He broke into the season on 3rd January and scored second by leaping through the three lengths by which the winner, Flying Freddie, led. The winner reached the other end of the wire in 24.69 seconds.
After remaining unsuccessful in the next two starts, Darts Wizard finally won on 26th January. He won over 380 metres at Crayford by timing the distance in 23.89 seconds. He led the runner up of the race, Sparkling Sophie, by 2 ¼ lengths.
In order to keep the three-year-old’s performance intact, the trainer, P.Simmonds drilled him over 575 metres at Romford and Darts Wizard raced through the distance in 35.39 seconds. The training proved ineffective and there were three more failures added
to the list that only had a single victory on it, Darts Wizard was trained once more.
This time he completed the 592 metres trip in 37.98 seconds at Harlow on 2nd March. Serving the purpose that it was meant for, Darts Wizard won the next race.
Darts Wizard was entered as the 4/5 favourite in Grade S1 592 metres flat at Harlow on 9th March and he stayed at par with the expectations associated with him by completing the trip in 37.39 seconds. He led the runner up of the race, Tain Flip,
by four lengths and timed the track distance in 37.71 seconds.
The last win till yet was in the Grade S1 Team Challenge Winners Stakes on 23rd March at Harlow over 592 metres. Darts Wizard timed the distance in 38.42 seconds and was sent as the favourite for the second straight time.
The runner up, Amazon Warrior, timed the distance in 38.62 seconds.
Darts Wizard’s last try had him finishing third. He has the chance of dominating the race tonight by being the first one to race through the wire.
