Daryl Mitchell made captain of Worcestershire
Daryl Mitchell has been confirmed as captain of Worcestershire for the 2011 domestic season.
Mitchell took on the captaincy in August after Vikram Solanki gave up the role to focus on his batting game. Mitchell has since thrived and led the county to promotion to division one of the four-day game.
"It is an honour to be made captain. I am very pleased to commit my future to Worcestershire and I'm looking forward to the season ahead," said Mitchell.
Mitchell has many qualities that make him the ideal candidate to carry on as captain of the cricket club. The real test will be how his side performs over a complete season in all formats of the game.
Many qualities
Mitchell is a very hands on captain and works with all the players in his time. This is very useful for Worcestershire when things are not going as planned. An active captain will take the pressure off
of all areas in a team.
Mitchell is a 26-year-old with plenty of vision and drive. Pundits will argue that he has the best years of his playing career left. He still has time to learn the ins and outs of captaincy in all formats
of cricket.
The captaincy should also help to enhance the quality of Mitchell's own game. He will want to lead by example and this means every part of his game will have to be fine tuned.
"I am absolutely delighted that Daryl's services of captaincy are secured for next season, and that he has committed his future to the club with a four-year contract. I am enjoying working with Daryl,
and look forward to seeing his progression as captain. It was my recommendation that Daryl carries on," added Director of cricket Steve Rhodes.
Betting advice
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 is being tipped to struggle in the top division of the four-day game next season. The best approach is to bet with each game. Wait the whole off season before backing the county because
there is a lot of time for players to come and go.
