Daryl Tuffey, the New Zealand fast bowler has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against India after suffering an injury during the first One Day International (ODI) at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. The 32-year old suffered a bicep strain and is all set
to return to New Zealand.
Daryl Tuffey’s replacement hasn’t been named yet by the New Zealand Selection Committee. However, if there will be a demand for a replacement, than the selectors of New Zealand Cricket will name a backup player. Tuffey will be replaced in the course of the
ongoing ODI series between New Zealand and India.
"Daryl developed some discomfort in his right bicep when playing but was able to manage it during the match", Mark Greatbatch, New Zealand's coach and selector, said. "It's appears to be okay when he bowls but he's unable to throw without pain, so he will
return to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 for further assessment and treatment".
The New Zealand fast bowler did well in the first ODI at Guwahati as he grabbed competent figures of 2/56 in his eight overs. Meanwhile, the tourists lost the game by 40 runs. In the process, India secured a lead in the series by a margin of 1-0.
India set New Zealand a fighting total of 277 runs to win the first ODI, courtesy of Virat Kohli’s ton. In pursuit, the visiting team only managed a modest score of 236 runs.
The visitors are already facing fitness issues as two of their key players did not take part in the first match. Brendon McCullum and Daniel Vettori did not play the first game because of back problems. There availability in the 2nd game is uncertain
as their fitness will be assessed earlier before the start of the 2nd ODI in Jaipur.
