Daryna Zevina clinches Women’s 200m backstroke gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Daryna Zevina of Ukraine clinched gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke on concluding day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Sunday, November 25.
Zevina continued her unravelling efforts in the 200m discipline and stifled hopes of her rivals by reaching the finishing wall for first position.
She showed no mercy to her opponents in the race and tapped the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 01.97 seconds.
The champion was followed by Alexianne Castel of France, who was 1.26 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end as second best finisher by producing a time of 2 minutes and 03.23 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Simona Baumrtova of Czech Republic, who suffered a deficit of 0.20 seconds from her foregoing finisher and ended her race in a time of 2 minutes and 03.43 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Sharon van Rouwendaal of Netherlands, who remained 2.42 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.85 seconds.
Rouwendaal was followed by Anja Carman of Slovenia, who stayed 0.26 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end as fifth fastest swimmer by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 06.11 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Karley Mann of Great Britain, who stayed 0.05 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 06.16 seconds.
Mann was chased by Ekaterina Avramova, who was one and a half body length behind and surfaced on the finishing end by producing a time of 2 minutes and 07.71 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Cloe Credeville of France, who was 0.18 seconds slower from her former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 07.89 seconds.
In addition, Zevina was extremely happy with her title claiming effort in the race and raked medal at the prize ceremony of the event.
