Daryna Zevina wins Women’s 200m backstroke gold - FINA Swimming Championships (25m)
Daryna Zevina of Ukraine won gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke on day three of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, on Friday, December 14.
The Ukrainian swimmer demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the distant backstroke discipline as she went full rampant on the finishing end for gold medal.
With her impeccable efforts in the backstroke discipline, Zevina remained in a prominent lead over her opponents and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by producing a nice time of 2 minutes and 02.24 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Bonnie Brandon of USA, who stayed 0.95 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 03.19 seconds.
The second fastest swimmer was chased by Duane da Rocha Marce of Spain, who was 0.96 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 04.15 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Marie Kamimura of Japan, who was 0.07 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 04.22 seconds.
Kamimura was traced by Elizabeth Simmonds of Great Britain, who suffered a loss of 0.33 seconds from her foregoing finisher and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 04.55 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Melissa Ingram of New Zealand, who remained 0.90 seconds apart and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 05.45 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Simona Baumrtova of Czech Republic, who was only 0.04 seconds slower and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 05.49 seconds.
Baumrtova was followed by Anja Carman of Slovenia, who was unable to upset any of her challengers and concluded her race in eighth place by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 05.62 seconds.
In addition, Zevina expressed contentment over her victory after the race and received medals at the prize ceremony of the event.
