Dashboard not working on my 1993 525i BMW

Question

Hi on my 1993 BMW my dashboard is not working I get a orange line and that is it. I can not see mileage etc, Do i have to recode it. I do ger parling brake light etc but no mileage and functions.. Also my OBC Board is not lighting up or working... Any help I would highly think you. I bought the car today the owner stated when she replaced the battery the dash went out to the orange light, plus she stated the obc never work since she had it... Thanks you

Frequently, when a battery is removed or installed with the key on,

some electronics get toasted due to the current surge.

Yes you can try coding, but I doubt that it would help.

You can also try detaching the negative battery terminal overnight and see if the problem goes away in the morning when you re-attach the terminal.

Possible defects are, Coding Plug, and  LCD Display unit for the cluster. Regarding the OBC display, I guess you should wait until the cluster has been repaired since the OBC problem can be secondary in nature (first things first, remember that the cluster's data is an input tot he OBC).

I wish you would bring it to a BMW tech/shop with the proper training, experience and diagnostic tools. Anything less would be a waste of time and money.
