Data (E:) (my computer)help ???

basically at present my computer is telling me i have very little space left for back up (about 1.8GB) and so it advises i delete some however once i click onto it and hover over see where all my memory is taken up it says only 7.89 is used on a back up ?

so how do i find out where the rest of the memory has gone and been used for ??? so i can delete such.

  1. try disc clean up , this will get rid of un needed files , its located in accessories, system tools

    also try the following , this tells you how to allocate less space to system restore and more space for you

    also have a look what files you have , go to computer , look at hard drives , go throufgh your files see whats there


  2. the way you describe it the hard drive isn't full,only the proportion for system restore...this can be made larger,as std i think it allows 10% of the hard drive for backups....

    If there's still significant use of your hard drive, buy another one to copy all your media files and stuff to. Here's a massive one which is going very, very cheaply.

  4. Delete all your old restore points..Disk clean-up > more options tab > delete system restore points WAIT untill the ok button returns cuz it takes a while
