Data card won't work with antenna

Question

I have a Franklin CDU-680 wireless data card that I am trying to use with a Wilson dual band omni antenna. When I attach the antenna, it shows an improved signal strength on the data card connection manager. But when I try to download a page, it always fails - drops the signal or something - the signal strength goes way down and the download always fails.
