Question:

Data protection & car insurance: HELP!?

I recently became unemployed and fell behind on my car insurance payments, so Swinton cancelled my policy. In order to legally stay on the road, I took out a new policy through Swiftcover (much cheaper by the way!)

Swiftcover now require proof of my No Claims Discount, but will Swinton give it to me when I can't yet pay the arrears on my premium? Or do they have to provide the proof anyway under the Data Protection Act?

Thanks in advance for anybody's help.

  1. IT IS LEGAL FOR SWINTON TO KEEP YOUR NO CLAIMS BONUS AS YOU STILL OWE THEM MONEY. YOU DONT GO INTO A SHOP BUYAN ITEM  IN INSTALLMENTS AND EXPECT TO KEEP THE ITEM WHEN YOU STOP PAYING FOR IT. DO YOU?? UNTIL YOU CLEAR THE DEBT THEY CAN WITH HOLD IT DATA PROTECTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
