Date, Wozniacki and Zvonareva into the third round of Pan Pacific tennis Tournament
The forty year old Japanese tennis star Kimiko Date Krumm is still strong and can change the game upside down in no time. The Japanese tennis ace rejoiced her birthday by entering into the third round of the Pan Pacific WTA event,
being held in Tokyo.
Kimiko Date clutched the victory when her rival Daniel Hantuchova retired in the decider set of the match. Daniel Hantuchova retired during the match due to her shoulder injury as she was not able to play at all. The gifted victory
for Date is no doubt very special for her as she has been able to display her brilliant playing form in front of her home crowd. The recent victory is also considered as a perfect birthday gift for the Japanese tennis star.
The current world number sixty seven Kimiko Date started the tournament and performed brilliantly by thrashing the Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova in the first round of the tournament. The match against the Slovakian, Daniel
Hantuchova was not an easy match for Date as Hantuchova gave a very strong challenge to Date and clutched the first set by 6-2 in a convincing manner. But after that Date fought back remarkably well and clutched the next ten games from her opponent. She was
leading the fourth set by 4 points to 0 when Hantuchova hit the shoulder injury.
The Japanese tennis ace Date Krumm is eyeing to win the tournament and make the moment more memorable as this is probably the last time that she is participating in the Pan Pacific tournament in front of her home crowd. Last time
she won the title was in 1995.
In the other matches of the Pan Pacific tournament, top seed Caroline Wozniacki hammered her rival Greta Arn from Hungary after a very easy challenge. Wozniacki grabbed the victory by 6-1 6-3 and easily qualified for the third
round of the event. The Danish has already won this tournament two years ago and is now aiming high and strong to win the event for the second time.
While talking about her game and hopes for the tournament the current world number two expressed her thoughts by saying that right now winning a match is important to her as she is very hopeful to win the title again. While talking
about the court and level of the competition in Pan Pacific tournament the world number two said that the court is very fast and a player needs to stay focused during the match. She added that she is very happy with the way she has performed and she will try
her level best to keep her winning streak alive. Wozniacki later added that she has to work hard as the level of the competition is getting tougher and tougher by time and one game can change the contest very quickly. Wozniacki will now face the Russian tennis
ace Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the third round of the event. Pavlyuchenkova qualified for the third round of the tournament by beating the Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko in a two setter match by 6-2 6-1.
In the other important matches of the event the second seed for the tournament, Russian Vera Zvonareva brushed away her Italian rival Sara Errani in a very convincing way by 6-3, 6-3. On the other hand the French Open champion
Francesca Schiavone saw off her rival from Romania, Alexandra Dulgheru after a very interesting match by 7-5 6-3.
The Pan Pacific tournament has entered into a very interesting phase and all the players are fighting hard to clutch each and every possibility of outclassing each other. The third round of the tournament will be even more interesting
and worth watching as the event is getting tougher and tougher by day.
