Question:

Dating service for Iraq veterans suffering from combat stress?

I have a 100% disability rating from the VA for post traumatic stress disorder (from combat in Iraq). I cant find a civilian woman who can understand me. I want to meet a woman who has been diagnosed with PTSD because I know she is having the same problem of not being understood.

Can anyone help me?

  1. A dating service would be cool if you could build a client-base large enough to accomodate everyone. (you can't just match people with matching disabilities, they have to be compatible in other areas of life too)

From how I understand it, there are much fewer women with PTSD, just based on enlistment numbers from the military, but it could happen. You could even start it yourself with a website, a forum, and some advertising. Entirely plausible physically/logistically. Practical? Maybe.

  2. This looks a little shenanigan-worthy, why you would come to Yahoo Answers before a therapist is beyond me.

Anyways, given time PTSD can subside and I think it's important you try and find a relationship with someone.  Most women are quite impatient, but if you keep trying you might find one that you can talk to.

  3. Hey, thanks for your service and I mean that sincerely.

However, instead of trying to find a woman to accommodate your PTSD-related issues, why not try to conquer and control those issues yourself?

    Just a thought.

Good luck with your search *hugs*

  4. I was finally diagnosed with 100% disability for combat-related PTSD 20 years after I returned from Vietnam. I cannot give you any advice on women, having been quite unsuccessful forming relationships. THANK YOU FOR SERVING!!!!! Keep your chin up and keep looking. Your apparent concern for others might lead you into a career in health care or something helpful and positive. Sorry, trooper; but PTSD never goes away; BUT you can learn to modify your behaviors with a good counselor. Get thee to a Vet center! Strength, man...bear up...educate yourself...go with your idea regardless of what any civilian tells you.
