Question:

Daughter's teeth- dentist suggested pregnancy problem?

My 3 year old just started going to a new dentist. She has grooves on the top of her baby teeth, and her other doctor suggested a sealant. I thought it was a fairly common kiddie problem- until he added "usually this is from a problem during the 3rd trimester- did you get very sick or have a high fever? Another illness?" Uhh..... no. It just struck me as strange. Have you heard of this?

  1. Yes. A high fever or malnutrition can cause trouble with forming teeth. SO can minerals in the water in the form of very dark teeth. our dentist is correct.

    And by the way I have been dealing with this stuff for 35 years as a dental tech.

    and ive actually never heard this before in my life!! how about asking your babies doc? not the dentist or maybe even your OB...
