  1. There are two temperature senders on the front of the block. One tells the computer when its at op/ temp, the other grounds the fan so it will work. The car is two years old, I would check the temperature with a digital meter while its running. If its over 195 to 200 degrees ,change the thermostat. Also flush and clean the radiator and block at the same time. If that doesn't fix it the sender that operates the fan may be weak and needs changing. Good luck

  2. I would get the check engine light checked at a part store if it is lit up. Otherwise I have to say there are a lot of cars where the fan runs after the car is off up to 30 seconds. If your battery is dying from that then you need a new one. If the fans run longer than that there is another problem maybe with the ingnition.

  3. the check engine light stays on after you've taken the key out?

get a diagnostic check.  maybe a short in the control components for the fan.  next time it does it you could try wiggling the wiring harnesses going to the fan and see if it turns off-  then you can narrow down where the problem is.
