Dav Whatmore backs Pakistan to carry momentum into T20 World Cup – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Twenty20 straight into the mega event, due to kick off on September 18, in Sri Lanka.
"We have already set a momentum. I am confident my boys will carry it into the World Cup," he said. "We did well against Australia but T20 is a volatile format. One over can change the course of the game. It is a format where a player or a team has to be at their utmost best and that too within a short span."
Like most teams, Pakistan have looked to fit in as much match practice as possible during the World T20 year, and have won 4 of the 8 matches they have played in 2012.
Pakistan kicked off the year with a 3-match series against England in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 during February. Despite having whitewashed England 3-0, during the Test leg of the tour, the Men in Green were unable to maintain their winning streak, and lost the T20I series, 2-1.
This was followed by a 2-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 during the earlier part of September in the UAE, with Pakistan winning the series 2-1. The final match of the series, however, resulted in Pakistan suffering their worst defeat in the format (by 94 runs), which saw the otherwise successful series ending on a somewhat sour note.
In addition to the match practice, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 has the most career wickets, with 60 scalps in the format to his name.
Pakistan came close to a tournament win in the 2007-08 edition of the tournament, before losing the final to India. However, they went on to secure victory in 2009, before England took away their crown in the 2009-10 edition of the tournament. The upcoming 2012 edition provides them a prime opportunity to reclaim the title, as they gear up to play warm-up games against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
