Coach of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team and former Australian cricketer, Dav Whatmore, believes that the cricket administrators all around the world must take strict measures against corruption in the game and the evil of match/spot-fixing must
be eliminated from cricket.
Corruption has severely damaged the reputation of the game all across the globe since the 1990s and has seen the end of several captains and players, caught involved in the mix.
Spot-fixing came into the limelight when two Pakistani bowlers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418, both the fast
bowlers have been banned from all sorts of competitive sport.
A new story broke earlier this week when some of the Indian cricketers were exposed through a sting operation by a private television channel. As a result of that, a number of question marks have been raised on the cash-rich Indian
Premier League (IPL).
While talking to the reporters in Lahore, Whatmore expressed that corruption is really hampering the sport and if the cricket officials want to save the ‘gentlemen’s game’, they need to take some harsh measures.
"If anyone is indulging in corruption anywhere he must be dealt with strongly. I think the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 and its members are also well aware of what needs to be done to deal with this problem," he said.
On the issue of Pakistani team’s selection, the coach expressed that it is good to give opportunities to the younger players as it keeps everyone on the toes and the senior players get a message that they have to perform in order
to retain their places in the squad.
Whatmore also backed the appointment of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 as the T20 skipper.
"It is always a good thing if a new blood is given an opportunity to play for his national team. It only leads to healthier competition for places and allows you to have a broader scope of talent to choose from. As far as captaincy
is concerned that is not my area and I will support and back any decision the PCB takes." Whatmore added.
