Dave Chappelle Comedy Show..?

In 1 of Dave Chappelle's stand up comedy's called 'For What Its Worth', he makes a joke about asking an indian if hes the real thing, so he takes a gum wrapper out his pocket, balls it up and throws it on the floor, and a single tear came out of the indians eye. Can someone explain why a single tear would come out?

In the 80's there was a commercial about the earth getting to polluted. They show an Indian standing and watching everything going on and a tear comes out of his eye. Yeah, pretty corny . It was a popular commercial and has been made fun off lots of times.
