Dave Dombrowski states he received several calls from GMs interested in obtaining a starter
The Detroit Tigers general manager is saying that he has received several calls from other Major League GMs about a potential deal for a starting pitcher.
He also claims that as soon as the Tigers finalised deal with Anibal Sanchez, several teams have been trying to contact him for a potential deal for a starting pitcher.
Though at the moment, the Tigers have no reason to trade their any pitcher but still exceptions can be made if they get any good offer from any Major League Baseball team.
Some say that if this potential trade does come about as the Tigers GM is saying, the Detroit management will go for a hard hitter in exchange.
“We do have six starting pitchers at the major-league level that we feel comfortable with that are good big-league pitchers, We'll just see what happens here over the next time period,” Dombrowski said.
He said, “We're not going to do anything to just do something, but if we can rectify that situation in a good fashion, then that is something we would contemplate."
Though the Tigers have still to take any potential decision but speculation also mounting that Rick Porcello is the one pitcher who might be traded in this offseason.
Overall he performed well during the last Major League season, but still his performance was not up-to that level in which he also showed some loop holes.
He finished the season with achieving 4.59 ERA along with 10-12 win-loss, 107 strikeouts and 1.53 WHIP. On the other hand, his career average is quite consistent with 4.55 ERA along with 48-42 win-loss, 384 strikeouts and 1.42 WHIP.
Meanwhile, the Tigers at the moment are currently happy to re-sign Anibal Sanchez and looking forward to have a wonderful season with him.
“He's a starter for us, I mean, he can relieve, but we would prefer to see him as a starter." Tigers GM said.
He added showing optimism on Sanchez, “He's in the prime of his career -- he's just going into it, He's been healthy for three years.”
The next few weeks are critical when Tigers will potentially decide on their future trade plans.
