Dave Evans and Ed Powys still on top of 49er fleet: 2012 Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta
After putting up an excellent sailing show on the Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay waters, Great Britain’s Dave Evans and Ed Powys were able to retain their top spot in the overall standing positions on the conclusion of second day proceedings.
The British pair clinched some lower finish on the second day but still managed to stay on top of the fleet standings with 20 points. The British pair has participated in eight races so far to compile 20 points with one discarded race points from the overall
points.
The weather conditions on the second day were quite strong just like Day 1. The fleet had complete races on the Weymouth waters under perfect winds which were blowing from 12 to 15 knots over the racing area.
British duo started well with some higher finishes in the opening races of the regatta. They began their regatta with two bullets on the first day followed by two third podium finishes. The second day proceedings did not go according to the team’s expectations
as they finished on lower positions including a 10th finish compiling 20 points.
Emmanuel Dyen and Stephane Christidis were outstanding on the second day and grabbed two bullets on the second day and occupied second position with 27 points.
