Dave Ward sings praises of Boots for Gold as the 7/4 favourite wins the Colin Harney Northern Oaks Final
The Belle Vue meeting, held on the 29th of September, had prominence due to the prestigious event of Colin Harney Northern Oaks Final. The show entailing a purse of £1500 made Dave Ward’s hound, Boots for Gold, the star of the show.
Covering the 470 meters distance, the brindle b***h, besides winning the prize money, succeeded in whitewashing the most favourite hound of the show, Bower Laramie.
In the race with odds of 7/4, Boots For Gold commenced her chase through trap 6, wearing black and white jacket with red number printed over it, and dashed through her box with quite an impressive pace.
As she surged through the pack of hounds, the three-year-old took the lead at the first bend and later on she was placed in the middle.
As she proceeded through the trail, Boots for Gold successfully got hold of the wire in a total of 27.80 seconds.
The hound who sadly finished second for trainer E Parker was Moving Marge, a blue b***h, left behind by 2 ½ lengths.
The three-year-old began her chase from trap 1.
Although she was provided with a clear run and attained the mid position, she could not help herself reach the pointer position to give a hit against Boots for Gold.
Covering the distance in 28.02 seconds, Moving Marge not only concluded her quest for the prize money, but she succeeded in vanquishing the 8/1 Emirates Classic by 1 ½ length.
During her combat, the black b***h got herself wide. The trap 5 racer tried every chance to march through the lot of hounds, but nothing worked out as she managed to cross over in 28.14 seconds for trainer P Cowdrill.
C Allsopp’s black and white b***h, Daughter of Peg, finished fourth by 3 ½ lengths. The three-year-old was left behind in the very initial stages of the race.
Even though she kept on struggling to reach the finish line as soon as possible, the trap 3 racer took 28.42 seconds to conclude her quest.
The most favourite hound of the race, Ballymac Eugenie, could not perform the way she was expected to.
Being placed in the race with 6/4 odds for D Childs, the trap 2 racer commenced through her box with a very sluggish pace.
While dashing through the dirt track, she got herself crowded at the quarter bend, which became a major drawback for the young hound, as she was forced to take 28.50 seconds to finish up fifth.
The last hound to finish the race was P Rosney’s Bower Laramie. Like Ballymac Eugenie, she came across same obstacles, taking 28.56 seconds to finish sixth.
Winning the race with flying colours, Boots for Gold took home the purse of £1500 for trainer Dave Ward with glee. The winner of the Grade OR chase gave her trainer a reason to push the boat out for her.
