Dave Whatmore eyeing more victories in the Indian Premier League - IPL News
Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders’ Coach, Dave Whatmore, wants his team to win as many matches as possible in the remaining half of the Indian Premier League, as the competition is stiffer this year when compared to the past.
The franchise is positioned at number three on the points table at the moment, winning five games out of the eight played.
Whatmore claimed, “There is a lot of cricket to be played in the competition. We can’t afford to slip-up. We also lost some games and we are back with wins. The nature of tournament will continue to change. With teams playing often, you will see change
in points’ table, as we have seen in the last four days.”
The former Sri Lankan coach added, “The team can be on top, and half day later it is second or third. The position just keeps changing. We have got an extremely flexible team that is capable of winning against any competitive side or on any surface.”
The KKR coach was pleased with the performance of his team until now and praised the efforts of some youngsters in his side. He was impressed with the way http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833, which Kolkata won convincingly by
eight wickets.
KKR suffered one blow when they lost wicket-keeper batsman Brad Haddin due to a finger injury. The Australian player was not a permanent feature in the playing-11, but provided a good option to the team.
Haddin was replaced by South Africa’s keeper batsman, Mark Boucher. The veteran player has proved his worth to one and all with his exceptional glove work and gutsy batting performances in the past.
Whatmore was pleased with the inclusion of Boucher in the team and claimed that Boucher would add flexibility to the side, as he could bat anywhere in the order.
The first three editions of the tournament have not been ideal for KKR, but they have managed to make an impression this year. They have the opportunity to make it to the final four of the event and possibly win it, considering their current consistent run
of form.
