Dave Whelan, the Wigan Athletic chairman, is determined to retain the services of Chelsea target http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Victor-Moses-c36075 and has offered him a new contract.
After being heavily linked with the UEFA Champions League winners, Moses has revealed that while he is happy at Wigan Athletic he would consider a move away if the right offer came in. Whelan, however, is determined not to let the 21-year-old leave in the summer transfer window.
Whelan has already rejected the first offer by Chelsea, believed to be 4 million pounds, claiming the offer was not good enough and did not come close to his valuation for the player. He revealed he had offered Moses a new contract, which would double his wages.
The Wigan Athletic chairman said he hoped the young forward made the right decision instead of relying entirely on his agent. He felt the club had made Moses a very decent offer and expected him to accept it if he wished to make the right decision for his future.
Whelan said in an interview:
“We've made him a very good offer - involving a doubling of his wages - over the next three years. It's down to whether the lad himself listens to sense, or whether he listens to his agent.
The player has to realise that it's his future we're talking about not his agent's.”
Moses will be out of contract next summer and Wigan Athletic are doing everything to keep him at the club by trying to keep away the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Whelan refused to rule out the possibility of selling Moses, claiming he would consider it if the right offer was made.
He continued:
“If we have to sell him, we will do so reluctantly - but not for the money that is currently on the table.”
The player himself claimed he was committed to Wigan Athletic, but would consider an offer if he felt it was good enough. Moses said:
“I have heard a lot of offers are on the table. First of all Wigan have the final say but for me the highest bidder would take the day but right now I am still a DW faithful.”
