Davenell Whatmore slated to become Pakistan’s next Head Coach - Cricket News Update
Former Australian right-handed batsman, Davenell Whatmore, is set to be named http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board officials, Whatmore and Julian Fountain will arrive in the first week of March to sign their respective contracts, where the former will work as the Head Coach, while Julian will take on the fielding duties.
The Sri Lankan born Australian cricketer has played 7 Test matches and a single ODI in his career; however, he featured prominently in first-class cricket, where he has played 108 games, scoring 6116 runs at 33.97.
He announced his international retirement in 1988-89 and decided to pursue a coaching career. His most notable achievement came in the 1996 World Cup, when he guided the Sri Lankan team to their first triumph in the mega event.
After that, he tried his hand in the English domestic circuit with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806, with whom he won the National League in 1998 and 1999, along with the NatWest Trophy (1998).
