David's Bridal Question: How long did it take your bridesmaid's dresses to come in?

My girls ordered their dresses around June 12 and the sales person said it would only take 6-8 weeks for them to come in. Well the 8 week mark is today. I called there to check when the dresses are coming in and the said the 1st week of September (about 13 weeks from ordering)! So much for 6-8 weeks, Huh. I am getting married Oct 25 so it really isn't a big deal that they are coming in Sept, but still. Good thing I am not getting married the 1st week of Sept :)

  1. keep tabs on them and make sure to write down the name of everyone you talk to. some of the dresses for my wedding came in on time and some ahead of schedule. for my friend's wedding they all came in within two weeks.

it depends on the style (is it a popular style?) and color. you should be ok but if anyone needs alterations, they need to take care of that ASAP since davids bridal usually takes a few weeks for alterations to be done.

    good luck!

  2. I got mine around the 6 week mark, and I was told 6-8 weeks.

I'd be complaining if I were you. Even though you still have plenty of time, if they told you 6-8 weeks, then that's when they should have arrived. Maybe they need to offer you a discount for poor service!

  3. Oh hunny. Be prepared. I might start ranting....

Ok I am in my best friends wedding in 3 weeks. About 3 weeks ago I called to check up on some of the bridesmaid dresses because it seemed like we were overcharged. Well needless to say we were overcharged because they ordered 2 of the 4 wrong dresses. THEN LAST WEEK the bride calls me crying. She went to pick up her dress and they ordered her wrong dress. Since then all the bridesmaids have gotten their dresses in, though that process took approximately 10 weeks when we were quoted 6 weeks. The bride has yet to get her dress in. The estimate the arrival on 9/13. She's getting married on 9/23. I am physically disgusted by their professionalism there.

If I were you I would not only call them to confirm every single style number, along with color and size but I would keep on them every other day. Theres a chance that the reason the dresses are taking so long to come in is because the ordered the wrong ones. Another thing, when the last bridesmaids dress had finally came in, I had called for almost a week to check up on it. I was told it wasn't in yet. Finally I called on a friday and it was there. I went to pick it up. They left a delivery sticker on the bag. It was dated 6 days prior. The dress had sat in their store for 6 days because everyone was to d**n lazy to check to see if it had actually come in. Never again will I step foot into the train wreck that it Davids Bridal.

  4. Mine came in at the three week mark.  They were shipped to Washington State from Pennsylvania.  I ordered mine at the last minute, around 4 or 5 weeks away from the wedding. They always ask me what the date of my wedding is.   I wonder if they get out the dresses to those whose wedding is coming up quickly, and those who are on the ball and order theirs very early are having to wait longer since their wedding date isn't quite here yet.  Just a thought...Although it should always be first come, first served.

  5. I have davids bridal nightmare stories! It's almost like they are to busy for their own good. I wish there where more stores out there like davids bridal..

Here in chicago we have House of Brides but they are worse..

I bought my dress off the rack because we planned our wedding in 10-8 months and I wanted extra time for alterations. Not only did it take 3 months for alterations but they messed the heming and an area where the dress was takin in at. They refused to fix the dress even after i had my grandmother who is a seamstress come with me to explain how it was done wrong. Just tha laugh it off... my grandma had to fix the dress.. she has a hard time sewing due to her hands.

My girls dresses where ordered in the wrong size, even after waiting 14weeks for them to show up in the store, I then returned them and asked for a rush order for the correct sizes. 4weeks later, i got the dresses within the same week of the weeding, i was promised 2weeks!

But i'm now helping two best friends plan weddings. Unfortunately, we've used Davids Bridal again for convenience and price.

Someone else needs to market the bridal coner with another major bridal chain. Would help us all out!

  6. Mine came in within 5-6 weeks,. I would def. say something... maby they will discount ya.

  7. When you order your dresses from Davids Bridal, they give you a confirmation number and a "received at the latest" date on your receipt.  Ask the girls to check their receipts for the date that they gave them and there should be something that you can do.

  8. I guess it depends ont he dress and time of year.  I bought one and they said 6-8 weeks and it came in 5 weeks later.

  9. I used to work at David's.. the dresses are always different at times when they come in.. my sister ordered her wedding dress and they said that it would take 12 weeks, she got it in about 3! if you are going to have difficulties with the alterations because of the late dresses .. COMPLAIN.. they have been known to discount the dress or alterations because of the problem they caused.. but speak only to a manager

  10. I got mine in two weeks but none of my dresses had to be altered in anyway.  i guess I got lucky

  11. Yeah, they told me it would take about 6-8 weeks and I think it ended up being closer to 12 weeks.  However, I ordered mine in August, got them in November, but my wedding wasn't until May so I wasn't too concerned.
