Bayern Munich midfielder David Alaba has admitted that his side was poor against Manchester City in the last match of the group stage, played at the City of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday. The German giants lost the match 2-0
but still progressed to the next stage and hence topped the group. He claimed that the players have to forget about the game and prepare for the match against Stuttgart this weekend.
Bayern Munich will travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 this weekend in search of their 11th win of the season in the Bundesliga and to retain the top spot. Die Bayern are leading the table with 31 points from the 15 games played
and have lost four times in the current campaign.
Alaba claimed that his side was below par against Manchester City and failed to make a mark in the end. The midfielder stated that Bayern wanted to end the group stages with a win but that was unable to happen as the match ended
with a 2-0 score line.
The young midfielder admitted that Bayern are relieved from their European duties for the time being and should focus on their matches in the league. He wants the players to make a strong comeback and return with a win against
Stuttgart.
“The players wanted to prove themselves in Manchester, whilst playing good football. Unfortunately that didn't happen for us especially in the first half. Conceding before half time didn't help our cause either. We've all got to
put this game behind us quickly and start focusing on our final few games before the upcoming winter break,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Austrian international admitted that the match against Stuttgart would be a tough test for Bayern as they have had a good season so far.
“Stuttgart are having a good season too. They will definitely do their best to make life difficult for us, but we'll be well prepared and attempt to take all three points home with us,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich won their match against Werder Bremen last week with a 4-1 score line and reclaimed the top spot.
