The Bayern Munich midfielder has become the youngest Austrian to win the Footballer of the Year award, leaving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Harnik-c24374 behind.
Alaba received the Footballer of the Year award in the wake of his outstanding form for Bayern Munich and the Austrian national team.
The player brushed aside Barazite and Harnik to become the youngest Austrian in the country’s history to grab the honours.
Alaba has been a regular member of the Bayern first-team squad, since emerging from their youth ranks in 2010. The player has impressed everyone with his pace and attacking displays, and is regarded as one of the best young talents
in the country.
The midfielder expressed his gratitude towards both, Austria and Bayern officials, for enabling him to compete for this award, and eventually winning it. He admitted that it would not have been possible without the help of his
club manager, Jupp Heynckes.
Having already made 15 international appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Austria-c2844 at the age of 19, the attacker has given a good account of his abilities and righty deserved to win the award. However, the teenager is yet to score a goal for his country.
Bayern manager, Jupp Heynckes, also praised the youngster on his achievement, and wished him success for the remainder of his career. He reckons that Alaba is a natural talent, and he will gradually become one of the best players
in the world, if he continues to perform the same way.
While addressing Kicker, the tactician further added:
"[Alaba is] a player who in training tries to improve every day. This award will spur him to make the next step in his career.”
Bayern president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, also reserved praise for the youngster and congratulated him on the achievement.
"I think he is a very good choice [for Austrian Footballer of The Year]. He has progressed extremely well at Bayern Munich, and we trust he will have a great future." He concluded.
Alaba spent the latter half of the 2010/11 season on-loan at Hoffenheim, before rejoining his parent club at the start of this campaign. The left-sided midfielder scored two goals in 17 appearances during his loan spell at the
Rhein-Neckar-Arena.
