David Beckham: “I may be 35 years old but I still feel I can play”
Just days after expressing his desire to join a European club on loan, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 has reiterated he is hopeful of making a comeback in the English national side. Beckham has not played for England since before the 2010 World
Cup, which he missed due to an Achilles injury, sustained while playing for AC Milan.
Beckham Said, “I may be 35 years old but I still feel I can play at the top level for a couple more years. I still feel that I am playing well and can still do much more. I have not finished yet.” He went on to say the
critics who had ruled out his return have in fact motivated him.
England’s manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello has made it clear to the ex-England captain that he needs to play competitive football in Europe and prove his fitness, to be considered for the national side. Capello had practically ruled out Beckham’s
chances of a comeback when he stated in an interview that the midfielder was
“a bit too old.”
However, only a few weeks later, the Italian took an embarrassing U-turn when he said, "First Beckham has to be playing again but the door is always open. We're monitoring all the players. Once he recovers and is in really
good condition, we will have a chat.”
Beckham has been offered loan deals by Everton boss David Moyes and Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson; but Beckham has not shown any interest in either club.
Beckham is the most capped outfield player of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 with 115 appearances. However, whether he will be able to increase this tally in the future remains to be seen.
