David Beckham: MLS All-Stars boast young talent against Manchester United
The Major League Soccer All-Stars team gathered in New Jersey this Monday, July 25, for the scheduled play against the Barclays Premier League champions, Manchester United, on July 27 at Red Bull Arena.
The most enthralling fixture of this year features the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Ream-c35103, Rafael Marquez and Faryd Mondragon in the All-Stars roster.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818 skipper Landon Donovan was also included in the starting XI of the MLS side but he is now deemed unavailable for the game due to a calf strain.
The MLS All-Stars played United last year and the EPL side thrashed them 5-2 at Reliant Stadium, Houston.
The last game had a lot of flaws in it but the team plans on giving an improved impression this time around. The players are confident of a result at Red Bull Arena under the supervision of one of the most decorated coaches in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390, Hans Backe.
For Backe, the All-Stars Game (ASG) is important from another view point as well. The New York Red Bulls head tactician was assistant coach at Manchester City before arriving in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034.
During his time at City of Manchester Stadium, the All-Star boss kept a 2-0 (2 wins, 0 losses) record against the Red Devils and wants to keep the winning streak running. “I'm very confident,” Backe told media on Monday. “I don’t want to lose.”
So does Beckham, who is playing his second ASG. The player does not want to mirror the same performance that saw them being taken to school by United last year.
“We have a lot of good, young talent on this team,” Beckham said. “These players are good players. It’s not just about the big European talent coming over. There’s a lot of young talent in this league. I think we have a chance on Wednesday.”
Team MLS gathered at the training field for an intensive practice session under the supervision of Backe. The manger was content with the skills shown by the group. Coupled with his experience at Eastlands, Backe will enter the Arena with a forceful squad.
The group is planned to hit the training ground on Tuesday to work on their technical play and set-pieces.
Hopeful for a result, Backe said: “It’d be nice to pick up a result. I think if we have a good day, we have the possibility to get a good result.”
On the other hand, the Red Devils will enter the site with a full strength squad. The Red Devils’ roster will boast the likes of Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 in the starting eleven.
