David Beckham approached Harry Redknapp’s son
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that his son Jamie was approached by David Beckham, which confirmed the midfielder’s interest in joining the club. Yesterday, Redknapp publicly announced that Beckham has expressed desire to come to White
Hart Lane for a loan term. However, Beckham has so far not been granted permission by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818 to spend the current Major League Soccer’s off season on loan at any club.
In an interview, Redknapp said, “He spoke to my son, to Jamie, about it and that's how it all came about. Jamie rang me, said he'd spoken to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 and would we be interested because he'd love to come and play at Tottenham. He just said, 'I'd like
to come back and play and I'd fancy playing for Tottenham, because I like the way they play'.”
Spurs boss had previously denied having any aspiration to sign the influential Englishman. However, he took a U-turn from that stance last Friday and admitted he would like to see Beckham in a Spurs outfit. Redknapp has also confessed that he has not seen
Beckham play for LA Galaxy but insists that the decision to sign the 35 year old is purely a footballing one and is not derived by monetary gains.
For Beckham too, this deal seems to reflect his love for the game, as he can certainly attain higher wages by joining any other European club. The Englishman stated last month that he will be looking for a loan term at a European club to increase his chances
of making it back to the English national side.
Beckham has already spent 2 loan terms at AC Milan, in the last two years, to ensure a spot in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 Squad. During his last stint at Milan, Beckham suffered an Achilles injury which forced him out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and side lined him for most
of the MLS season. Prospect of another serious injury is reported as being the prime reason for Galaxy’s reluctance to allow one of their key player to go on yet another loan term.
If the football superstar does end up at White Hart Lane, his experience at the highest level of football will certainly assist Spurs in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
