David Beckham considering West Ham move
David Beckham has had one of the most prestigious playing careers in the world of football. Representing two of the world’s biggest clubs, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and captained his native England in two World Cups.
After moving to LA Galaxy, of the MLS, Beckham has been on loan to AC Milan to help make a place for himself in the England team. Although, he is still injured right now, it seems he will have one more option to choose from if he wants to come to Europe.
West Ham co-owner David Gold has been trying very hard to bring the former England Captain to the club and made an approach last year in January. But at the time Beckham picked Milan, where he was subsequently injured and missed out on the World Cup.
Beckham was born in East London and has seen the area transform after heavy investment revitalizing the economy came from Olympic games funds. Gold believes that signing the star midfielder could prove instrumental in West Ham’s bid to move into the London Olympic stadium after the Olympics have concluded.
However, the co-owner has maintained that he believes Beckham still has a lot to offer on the pitch as well and the 35 year old can help West Ham as a football club as he gets closer to the end of his illustrious career.
The prospect of finishing his career in England could be too attractive to turn down for David Beckham, whose agent has reportedly held talks with West Ham over a potential move for the player. LA Galaxy has yet to make a statement on the matter, despite Beckham still being contracted to them, and his involvement with the MLS at large.
Beckham has reportedly promised to take the matter under serious consideration once he manages to get some time off from the project he is involved in. The star footballer is closely involved with England’s bid to host the World Cup and is on the Olympics Committee.
The MLS project is also one that requires Beckham to play a major part and he was apparently instrumental in making sure former Arsenal Captain, Thierry Henry, moved to the New York Red Bulls. He has overseen a significant increase in attendances at the MLS grounds all over the United States.
MLS officials will be hoping that Beckham rejects the advances of West Ham and other clubs looking to secure his signature, due to the role he plays for them. Replacing a player of his quality may be possible but a celebrity of his standing in the world will be near impossible to replace.
Beckham is currently recovering from an Achilles injury and has enough time to deliberate over the choices that are available for him. Given the way his career has gone, it would be surprising if he gave up the MLS for a mid-low table side like West Ham United and that is exactly what his fans in North America will be hoping he does.
