36-year-old David Beckham will seek to cancel out all hope of ever returning to the Premier League following a sudden lack of interest from Tottenham and a given lack of interest in Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, who were still interested in making an offer for the
veteran English skipper.
Beckham has recently won the MLS Cup and is now only the second English player to have won three different first-division leagues in three different countries; winning the Premier League with Manchester United and then winning the La Liga with Real Madrid.
Renowned for his famous free-kicks and even more so for his fashion statements both on and off the pitch, the winger makes a strong case for any club that can manage to afford his high-cost living and lifestyle. The reward of course, is reaped by heaps upon
heaps of publicity, in terms of merchandise sales for the club and an increase in the number of tickets being sold, not to forget the increased media coverage that comes with signing such a controversially famous player.
Former clubs who have cashed in on this unique attribute are AC Milan and LA Galaxy, who benefited more from just having Beckham’s name associated with them than actually playing him. Beckham’s number 7 shirt might be the most sought after, and arguably
the most sold football shirt, in the world.
David said yesterday that he would not want to play against Manchester United in the Premier League. He mentioned how the love he has for the club is too great to him and he possibly wouldn’t be able to keep an unbiased mind should he be placed in the situation.
However, the winger hasn’t completely ruled it out yet.
"It [United] is a club I love and adore. I always said I wanted to start and finish my career there, but unfortunately that didn't happen,” said David.
"I could never see myself playing against United for another Premier League team - but you never know, stranger things have happened."
Tottenham were recently showing a lot of interest in the midfielder but have now backed out, following boss’ Redknapp’s concern that Beckham may not be able to get much field-time with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062 and Van der Vaart competing for the same position,
which in turn would compromise his fitness and confidence levels when he represents Team Great Britain at the Olympics 2012
The midfielder is also attracting interest from French club PSG who are trying to establish a galacticos era of their own. Paris St Germain have emerged as favourites to sign the midfielder now, following Tottenham’s retreat. They are rumoured to pay the
high-end money that Beckham would need if he is to maintain a standard of living equal to the one he had in Los Angeles.
Beckham looks keen to leave Hollywood, hinting upon the fact that he has possibly achieved everything that he could have at LA Galaxy:
"This was the last piece of the puzzle," he said. "Whether I stay or not, I've had an amazing five years."
