http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 recently came out and confirmed that he won’t be playing for Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics as the former Manchester United winger is not a part of Stuart Pearce’s team. Beckham who was a part of Great
Britain’s preliminary squad has missed out on the final squad which was selected by Stuart Pearce.
The former Manchester City manager included the likes of Micah Richards, Craig Bellamy and Ryan Giggs but overlooked Beckham in the end. As only three over-age players are allowed to be selected in the football squad for the Olympics,
Pearce went with Richards, Giggs and Bellamy but it is still confusing as to why Beckham was left out.
Many have questioned the inclusion of Micah Richards who was not Manchester City’s preferred right back last season and was not even selected for the European Championships in the England national team squad by Roy Hodgson.
Beckham said, "Everyone knows how much playing for my country has always meant to me, so I would have been honoured to have been part of this unique Team GB squad. Naturally I am very disappointed, but there will be no bigger supporter
of the team than me."
He added, "As a Londoner I was really proud to have played a small part in bringing the Olympics to my home town as part of Seb's [Coe] team and I can't wait for the Games to begin and will enjoy every moment along with the rest
of Great Britain."
Beckham has indeed worked tirelessly as an ambassador for the Olympic Games representing his home nation. But this latest blow in his footballing story will surely sting the former Real Madrid star who was once seen as a sure shot
certainty to represent Great Britain in his home city at the Olympic games.
